I got pinged by one of those AI cameras and had no idea where to start. The free check was great, it walked me through what actually mattered about the photo. I answered a couple of questions and had a proper letter ready in no time, worded far better than anything I could have come up with!

★ COMMON QUESTIONS ★

Straight answers before you start

Do you guarantee my fine will be cancelled?

No, and we never will. The final decision always sits with the issuing authority. We have no influence over what they decide.

What we do give you is a free, upfront assessment of how strong your case is (strong, moderate or limited grounds) before you pay anything. Then we help you put it forward clearly in a letter structured around the exact grounds your state's review officer looks for, tailored to the offence. We'll be honest: if your grounds are weak, we'll tell you.

Is this legal advice?

No. Fight My Fine is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. We're a self-help template tool. You are the author and sender of every letter we draft.

If you want actual legal advice, contact your state's free legal service: LawAccess NSW, Victoria Legal Aid, Legal Aid Queensland, or your state equivalent.

What fines do you cover?

Parking, speeding, red light, mobile phone use, seatbelt, toll (fine-stage only), reckless driving and e-bike fines, across all eight Australian states and territories (NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA, TAS, ACT, NT).

If your fine doesn't fit one of these categories, tell us and we'll add it to our roadmap and let you know when it's covered.

How much does it cost?

One flat price per letter: $10 or $15. Parking and unpaid-toll fines are $10; speeding, mobile phone, red light, seatbelt and reckless-driving fines are $15. No percentage of your fine, no subscriptions. One price, all-in.

Launch offer: 50% off your first letter for our first 25 customers. Use code LAUNCH50 at checkout.

You only pay once we've confirmed the fine details and you're happy to proceed. You can walk away before that with no charge.

What's the process, step by step?
  1. Upload your fine. A photo or PDF works. We read the issuing authority, offence, date, location, vehicle, amount, and deadline. You confirm or correct any details before continuing.
  2. Answer a short questionnaire. Tailored to your state and the type of fine. Plain English questions. Takes a few minutes.
  3. See your case strength. Before you pay, we show how strong your grounds are (strong, moderate or limited) and recommend whether to dispute or ask for leniency. If it's weak, we'll tell you.
  4. Confirm and pay. One flat price: $10 for parking and unpaid-toll fines, $15 for everything else. You only pay once you're ready to proceed, and you can walk away before this point at no cost.
  5. Download your letter. Word document, ready to send. Review it, make any small edits if you like, then send it to the issuing authority yourself (by email or post; we tell you where).

The whole thing takes about 10 minutes. You remain the author and sender. We're the tool that puts the letter together.

What do the letters look like?

Clean, formal, and structured the way a review officer expects. Each letter is built in the same shape:

  • A details block up top: your notice number, vehicle, the alleged offence, location, date and issuing authority, set out clearly.
  • The grounds, the heart of it: the specific, tailored reasons your fine should be reviewed, written for your exact circumstances and the offence.
  • The request: a clear ask (withdraw the fine, a caution, or a reduction), plus a request for written reasons if they decline.
  • Your sign-off, with spaces for your name, address and signature to add yourself.

It comes pre-addressed to the correct authority for your state, with the right name and postal address, so it's ready to send. And once it's ready, we tell you exactly where and how to lodge it, including a direct online link where the authority offers one.

See a full sample letter →

Can I use this if my fine goes to court?

No. Our letters are only for the dispute or review stage: the initial response you send to the issuing authority asking them to withdraw or reduce your fine.

They are not prepared for court proceedings. If your matter has escalated to a court hearing, or if you've been formally charged with a more serious offence (reckless driving, drink driving, repeat offences, etc.), you should see a qualified lawyer.

Free options include LawAccess NSW, Victoria Legal Aid, Legal Aid Queensland, and your state equivalent.

Does having photo evidence help?

Yes, significantly. Photos and other evidence make a dispute much stronger. Useful examples:

  • A photo of the faded, missing, or unclear sign
  • The actual location and any obstructions
  • Dashcam footage of the incident
  • Receipts, job sheets, or appointment confirmations supporting your account
  • Photos of medical or emergency context

You don't upload these to us; they stay on your device. Instead, describe them clearly in the notes section of the questionnaire (e.g. "I have three photos of the sign showing the writing is faded beyond legibility, taken on the same day"). The letter we put together will reference them, and you attach them yourself when you send the letter to the authority.

What if I lose? Do I get a refund?

Your fee pays for preparing your letter (a digital product delivered as soon as you confirm), and the final decision always rests with the issuing authority, so we generally can't refund based on whether they accept it. You see our free case-strength check before you pay anything, so there are no surprises.

But we stand behind the strong ones. If our free check rates your grounds Strong and the authority still knocks your dispute back in full, we'll refund your fee in full. Just upload their written decision on our claim page within 30 days. See our guarantee terms for the details.

And whatever your rating, if the letter has obvious errors, misses details you gave us, or fails to generate after payment, email us at contact@fightmyfine.com.au and we'll fix it or refund you, no fuss. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

How do I claim the money-back guarantee?

It's quick, and there's no phone call. You don't even have to email if you'd rather not:

  1. Wait for the issuing authority's written decision on your review.
  2. If they rejected it in full, go to our claim page, enter your notice number and email, and upload a photo of their decision.
  3. We check it against your case and, if it's covered, refund your fee in full to your original payment method, usually within a few business days.

Prefer email? Send the same details to contact@fightmyfine.com.au instead. Claims must be made within 30 days of the date on the authority's decision; see our guarantee terms.

How does the camera photo check work?

For camera fines (mobile phone, seatbelt, red light, speeding) you can upload the authority's photo evidence. It's free to download from your state's official portal (here's where for every state). Our free check walks you through it, area by area: the belt anchor at the door, the chest and the lap for seatbelt fines; each hand, the lap and the legs for phone fines.

You answer by looking at your own photo, and only what you confirm goes into your letter. If you add the photo on the page it stays on your device; we never receive or store it. You get an honest assessment either way. Included in the flat price.

Is my data safe?

We only collect what we need to draft your letter. The photo of your fine is deleted from our servers 90 days after your letter is generated. The camera-photo check runs on your device: if you add the evidence photo to view it, it is never uploaded to us at all. If you claim under our guarantee, we keep a limited record (your case-strength rating, notice number, the letter, and the decision you send us) for up to 12 months so we can review your claim, then delete it. You don't need to create an account, and we don't share your data with marketers or third parties.

Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect and how we use it. We comply with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What if I was actually in the wrong? Can you still help?

Yes. Many letters aren't disputes; they're leniency requests. If you accept what happened (a moment of unawareness, a parking miscalculation, an honest emergency), the tool can help you put together a letter asking the authority to use their discretion and issue a warning or reduced penalty instead.

Some cases are stronger than others, and we'll always be upfront about that with you. We're not here to help anyone dodge genuine wrongdoing. We're here to make sure every Australian can put their case forward clearly, no matter what kind of fine they've received.

The camera's photo is the whole case against you, and you can view it free on your state's official portal: here's where to get it →. We'll walk you through checking it, area by area. You can add the photo here to view it beside the questions — it stays on your device and is never uploaded. Only your answers go into your case.

Building your case

We're cross-checking your ticket against the rules the council actually has to follow.

  • Reading the ticket
  • Checking NSW Road Rules & Local Government Act
  • Finding the strongest grounds to fight
  • Rating your chances
  • Writing your letter in your voice

Step 4 of 4

Review your full letter

Payment received. Here's your complete letter for the first time — read the full draft below, including the grounds. Happy with it? Create your editable Word document; it'll include spaces for your name, address and signature to add yourself, then you send it to the issuing authority. Not the approach you wanted? Redo it at no extra charge.
